The project „H20 WR – Town Networking and Engaging Citizens for the Protection of Water Resources in Europe“ is co-financed by the Europe for Citizens Programme, Measure 2.2. Networks of Towns. The project was approved for a grant worth 142.500,00 EUR. The partnership includes:
The project focuses on water protection, civil defense, and improving citizen involvement in public and civic actions focusing on water resources. The overall aim of H20 WR is to enhance citizen engagement in actions focused on improving water quality, environmental protection and civil defense. The specific aims are: 1) Increase citizens’ awareness on how to apply EU values and approaches in protecting water resources and protecting communities from natural threats; 2) Improve cooperation between towns in implementing actions that protect water resources & residents from natural threats.
The objectives were acheived by organizing 7 3-day events from March 2017 until September 2018. The events include a mix of various methods in order to ensure that knowledge and best practices were exchanged, and that new links were formed between partners. The events that were held included:
With the signing of the network agreement among the partners at the final event, the partnership will continue to work together in order to address water protection issues (and other connected issues) over the long-term.
